The ORION spacecraft has landed, at least ideally, at the SparkMe Space Academy, thanks to an educational workshop organised by City of Science as part of the "Science Mondays". The initiative is part of the program ESERO Italia, a joint project of theItalian Space Agency (ASI) and theEuropean Space Agency (ESA), dedicated to the dissemination of STEM through space exploration.
Durante l’incontro, studentesse e studenti di due classi dell’ IC Giovanni Pascoli e IC Minozzi Festa di Matera, hanno potuto scoprire da vicino le caratteristiche fisiche dei materiali utilizzati per costruire la spacecraft body, using the ESA Spacecraft Materials Kit. The laboratory has guided, with great success, the young participants in the analysis of the properties that make certain materials ideal for withstanding the extreme conditions of launch, space flight and return to Earth.
